The paid register

An alphabetical list of paid entries, which is not a ranking and not an endorsement

Occupational health providers, advisers to outdoor employers and clinical services relevant to outdoor workers. Paid, labelled, alphabetical, and assessed by nobody.

What this is

A register of organisations and practitioners who have paid to be listed here: occupational health providers, advisers to employers whose staff work outdoors or in water, and dermatology and physiotherapy services relevant to outdoor workers.

It exists because people whose hands are failing because of their work frequently do not know that occupational health services exist, and because a directory built on disclosed and checkable facts is a legitimate thing to sell when a product recommendation is not.

What it is not

It is not a ranking. Entries are alphabetical. Position cannot be bought and does not vary.

It is not a recommendation. Every entry is labelled as a paid listing.

It is not a clinical endorsement. We are not clinicians, we have not assessed anybody's competence, and a listing here says nothing whatsoever about the quality of care or advice a listed party provides.

We have assessed nobody. We verify the facts we publish. We do not verify that anyone is any good, and we could not.

Current state of the register

The register is empty. No entries have been published yet.

We are saying so rather than filling it with organisations who have not asked to be here, which is the standard practice in this field and the reason most directories in it are worthless. An empty register that says it is empty is more use than a populated one that quietly is not what it appears to be.

What every entry will carry

Legal name and trading name. Registered address and the country in which it is registered. Company or charity number where one exists. Year established. The services actually offered, described without superlatives. A named contact with a role. Professional registration where the listed party or its named practitioners hold it, with the register and the number, so that a reader can check it directly with the relevant regulator. And the date the entry was last verified.

Every entry will be marked Paid listing in the entry itself, not in a footnote.

Where to check a registration yourself

Doctors are on the register held by the General Medical Council. Nurses and midwives are on the register held by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. A range of health professions, including occupational therapists and paramedics, are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. Physiotherapists are regulated through the Health and Care Professions Council and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy is their professional body. Companies are on the register at Companies House.

We will publish registration details so that you can check them. We will not do the checking for you and present it as a verdict, because that would be an assessment and we do not carry out assessments.

Criteria and rates

The admission criteria, the published price and the full list of what payment cannot buy are on the criteria and rates page. Entries are accepted or refused on the published criteria, never on the size of the payment.
